Glen Kanzelmeyer NCARB, Hospitality Studio
Glen joined JBDG’s Hospitality division in the summer of '05. Since receiving a 5 yr. Bachelor of Architecture degree from Montana State University in 1985, Glen has worked with several architectural firms in California and Washington. Glen gained experience in a wide variety of project types including larger hospitality, elderly retirement communities to smaller financial institutions, restaurant and tenant improvement projects throughout the US and Japan.
One of the more unique projects that Glen was involved in was the Fisher’s Landing Seafood Shanty at Disneyland in California during 1988-89. As job captain on the project, Glen was responsible for detailing and hand drafting the sagging roofs, ½ scaled second floors, cracked porch beam and the surrounding boardwalks, stairs and railings constructed of Cumaru wood imported from South America. Useful party trivial: Cumaru wood is so dense that nail holes have to be predrilled and it hasa class-A fire rating, the same as concrete and steel.
When not at work, Glen spends as much time as possible with his wife and children. He enjoys a great deal of outdoor and sporting activities and is very active in his church. But his favorite past time is writing, playing and recording music on one of his guitars or basses.
Fun Fact: Glen helped build a schoolhouse in Jamaica.
